Sands Resorts Macao's The Huaiyang Garden
and Zi Yat Heen Receive Michelin Stars

Signature Chinese restaurants recognised by world's leading dining reference

(Macao, Apr. 26, 2023) – The Londoner® Macao's The Huaiyang Garden and Four Seasons Hotel Macao's Zi Yat Heen restaurants have been awarded one-star ratings in the Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2023. Notably, The Huaiyang Garden has achieved the accolade soon after its opening, demonstrating exceptional culinary excellence.

Tom Connolly, Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage Operations, Sands China Ltd., said: “We are honoured to have again been recognised by the Michelin Guide, the world's most influential dining reference, for two signature restaurants at Sands Resorts Macao. From time-honoured Huaiyang cuisine, authentic Cantonese delicacies to global gourmet, Sands Resorts Macao has become a hugely popular culinary destination in Macao, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. These honours underline the excellence of our Food and Beverage team and will inspire us to continue to create the ultimate dining experience for our guests.”

The Huaiyang Garden, The Londoner Macao
Curated by 'The Godfather of Huaiyang Cuisine' Zhou Xiaoyan, The Huaiyang Garden showcases the sublime flavours of timeless Huaiyang cuisine. The restaurant has become a popular fine dining option immediately following its opening.

Recognised as one of the four great Chinese culinary traditions, Huaiyang cuisine features fresh, light yet powerful flavours, consummate knife skills and precise cooking methods, epitomising Chinese gastronomic brilliance. Chef Zhou is credited with introducing innovations based around contemporary techniques and presentation to further refine this classic cuisine. 'Shredded bean curd with crab meat and egg white in superior soup' is enhanced with king crab legs, layered egg white and the famous Yangzhou snack, chasan, to create extraordinarily complex flavours, while for 'steamed Hilsa herring with 20-year-old Huadiao wine', all 164 bones are skilfully removed while maintaining the shape of the fish, demonstrating meticulous preparation and virtuosic craftsmanship. Other signature dishes include 'braised Hokkaido sea cucumber with shrimp roe' and 'stewed meatball with crab meat and crab roe in superior soup'.

The interior design of The Huaiyang Garden is inspired by ancient Chinese gardens with winding paths offering perfectly composed glimpses of scenery, guiding guests on a journey of surprise and delight. Here, guests can enjoy premium, authentic Huaiyang delicacies offering a perfect combination of taste and presentation.

Zi Yat Heen, Four Seasons Hotel Macao
A Michelin-starred restaurant since 2009, Zi Yat Heen has been the jewel in the crown of the hotel from its very first day. With his wealth of experience, Executive Chinese Chef Charles Cheung mesmerises guests with refined Cantonese classics that stay true to the essence of the cuisine. Using the finest ingredients and following meticulous traditional cooking techniques, Zi Yat Heen captures the essence of classic Cantonese cuisine. While savouring exquisite dishes, guests are also pampered with exceptional service in an elegant and comfortable setting.

In celebration of the recognition in the Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2023, Zi Yat Heen is launching a new Michelin tasting menu and three new signature dishes, including pan-fried Kagoshima Wagyu A5 beef cubes; sautéed star garoupa fillet with French haricot verts and Chinese olive vegetables; and Zi Yat Heen deluxe appetisers (honey-glazed barbecued pork, 15-year Huadiao drunken chicken, Sichuan-style marinated fresh shrimp with spicy sauce).
